Welcome to Faro!
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 34th STAR conference, which will be held at the University of Algarve, in Faro, Portugal.
Faro is a wonderful place to engage both in scientific and leisure pursuits with your colleagues.
We hope you will join us at the 34th STAR conference.
The Stress and Anxiety Research Society (STAR) is a multi-disciplinary, international organization of researchers who share interests in theoretical, experimental and applied aspects of anxiety, stress, and coping. Its members, from over 40 countries, meet annually to present and exchange research findings and clinical applications on a wide range of stress and anxiety related phenomena.
STAR conferences provide a unique opportunity to learn, not just about stress and anxiety, but also how psychology is studied and practiced throughout the world. STAR has been exceedingly active in providing an opportunity to share research and clinical findings in an international forum. Our conferences are relatively small (200–250 participants), very collegial and personable, and provide plenty of opportunities for discussions, exchanges of ideas, and professional and interpersonal networking. Every year STAR conferences attract many of the most world-renowned researchers in the field of anxiety, stress, and coping. The conference in Faro will not be an exception.
The Main Themes of the 34th STAR Conference include:
- Health behavior, and coping with illness
- Stress and health in education and work settings
- Positive and negative emotions
- Anxiety and somatic diseases
- Trauma and post-traumatic stress
- Neuropsychology of stress and anxiety
- Methodology of anxiety and stress research
- Stress and coping aspects of technology and art
